World Ocean Day 2021 Conservation Action Focus Protecting 30% of our blue planet for a healthy ocean and climate

World Ocean Day 2021
World Ocean Day 2021

June is coming soon and we are excited to announce this year's Conservation Action Focus: Protecting 30% of our blue planet for a healthy ocean and climate.

Each year, we work with the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council to develop a Conservation Action Focus to help unite the world in taking action on an issue of critical importance. We also develop and curate resources related to the action focus to support event organizers and individuals worldwide in preparation for 8 June and involvement throughout the year.

You can help! Working closely with the Council, World Ocean Day and its global network will support the growing movement to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030 (“30×30”). We will very soon be posting resources and toolkits to help you and your organization or business integrate the Conservation Action Focus into your activities, celebrations and other events. If you're an individual, you can rally others — including families, friends, schools, local businesses, organizations and corporations — for greater involvement, including organizing a celebration in your community!

We’re also excited to announce that we dropped the “s”!

As you might have noticed above, we have officially dropped the “s” from World Ocean(s) Day to reflect our blue planet’s one ocean that connects us all. To read more about this change, please check out this blog post and download the new World Ocean Day logo to use in your outreach and activities.

More ways to stay involved:

• Check out these event ideas to begin planning your celebration and get involved! This year activities, events, and celebrations will be held online and onsite, depending on the current situation with the pandemic.

• Meet the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council and let us know if you’d like a youth leader to participate in your event in June or another time throughout the year.

• Be sure to follow World Ocean Day on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for the latest news and more!

• Please forward this to friends and colleagues and stay tuned for approximately monthly email updates through June with exciting new resources and ways to take action!

World Ocean Day 2021 And remember…World Ocean Day is 8 June every year but we can all help every day! No matter where we live, we all affect the ocean and the ocean affects us.
